Check out Petfinder.com for a shelter near you with one or either a Poodle or Lab Rescue. Many purebred rescues also rescue mutts so they may have one. They do shed and the ones I’ve seen are quite active.

  1. look i the newspaper or google human sociotys in your area

  2. I would check with your local Labrador or Poodle Rescue groups. I’m sure there are a ton of them that need to be rescued! Try petfinder.com

  3. There are many mixes that need homes, check out petfinder, like someone else had already suggested.

Check the local County Animal Shelter. People that breed these sometimes take them to the pound when the pup gets to the long leg “gangley” size

That way they can breed some more small cute little pups which sells faster.

Breeders of the “designer dogs” are in the same category as puppy mills and back yard breeders. No Morals whatsoever.

  5. Labradoodles originated in Australia, they were originally breed for people who ad allergies,( hypoallergenic)..Today you can pretty much get them anywhere, Internet, local newspapers (classified) if your not looking for these qualities any will do. My advice wait a year or so …the price will substantially drop. They are wonderful dogs , I have been grooming them foe about 7 years…great dogs…HIGH maintenance…with grooming especially!!1

I HATE TO TELL YA BUT LABRADOODLES ARE NOT, AND I WILL SAY IT AGAIN ARE NOT A BREED THEY ARE MUTTS THAT SOME STUPID BREEDERS GOT TOGETHER TO MAKE MONEY
    POODLES ARE A BREED
    LABRADORS ARE A BREED
    LABRADOODLES ARE MUTTS

  7. Hi Frankie,

Actually there are a few good ways to find labradoodles in rescue.

One is through the rescue resource group of the International Doodle Owners Group found at http://www.IDOG.biz

2nd you can look on http://www.poomixrescue.com and click on “doodles”

3rd quite often if you look through petfinder.com and do a search for “Standard Poodle” you are likely to run across a labradoodle now and then.

Otherwise one breeder I’d recommend highly is
http://www.cedarhilllabradoodles.com –they do all the appropriate testing of hips, eyes, etc. They also happen to be IN Illinois.

And finally here are some websites with listings of breeders that do the appropriate testing:
    http://www.goldendoodle-labradoodle.org/breeder-directory.html

    http://www.goldendoodles.com/breeders.htm
    Good luck in your search!
I have one labradoodle from a breeder (she’s no longer breeding the first generation though) and one from rescue. They are both awesome dogs!
